Surface high-temperature treatment is to subject precipitated silica to high-temperature heat treatment to remove some molecules adsorbed on the surface of silica, that is, water and other low molecular weight adsorbates. As a result, some vulcanization characteristics can be improved, but the effect is not significant. Surface chemical treatment is to use certain chemical reagents to react with the active silanol groups on the surface of silica to improve the affinity and reactivity of silica and polymer rubber. There are many reagents that can chemically treat the surface of white carbon black, and there are also various methods for chemical treatment. There are many documents and patents on this aspect. The following is an introduction.
The specific process methods used are:
(1) Steam method: direct contact between dry silica and organic steam to cause the required reaction;
(2) Reflux method: Boil the silica and the reaction solution together and reflux to produce the desired reaction;
(3) Autoclave reaction method: Heat and press silica and the reaction liquid together in an autoclave to cause the specified reaction to occur. The specific chemical reactions used are: as the degree of hydration increases, the number of isolated silanol groups gradually decreases, while the ortho-type silanol groups gradually increase. The ortho-position silanol group has strong adsorption capacity for water and polar substances.
